The bicentennial celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday was commemorated at Palmetto Elementary School with a writing contest for all 1st through 5th grade students. Teachers used District resources as well as books from our Media Center to share information about the life and accomplishments of our 16th President. Our principal, Mr. Torres, offered to reward the best entries from each class with an ice cream party! All winners were announced on our closed circuit WPAL morning broadcast and received a commemorative certificate from our Media Specialist, Mrs. Carter. Two students, Sophia Lambert and Elizabeth Muñoz had their essays selected to represent Palmetto in the District contest.
